Which book(s) do you keep by your bedside for inspiration? William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905) kept the mythological Virgil and Ovid at his bed for continuous inspiration for his art. He painted Chansons de Printemps (Song of Spring) in 1889. In it, Bouguereau tries to capture the essence of springtime by our different senses. A beautiful maiden, early spring blossoms in her lap, the young putti singing, and the spring flowers bursting from the ground. #Art #Painting #Artwork #ArtHistory #HistoryofArt #OilonCanvas #OilPainting #Bouguereau #Spring #Springtime #Printemps #Flowers #Maiden #Smell #Sight #Singing #Hearing #Inspiration #Books #InspirationalBooks #Ovid #Virgil
