I love that fountain combining a hippocampus with a cornucopia. The New Bracelet (1883) was painted by Henryk Hektor Siemiradzki (1843-1902), a Polish painter based in Rome. The fountain has the head and body of a hippocampus, a mythological creature with the upper body of a horse with the lower body of a fish. But Siemiradzki adapted the hippocampus and added a cornucopia instead of its fish tail. It shows how two friends are hanging out by the fountain, one admiring the beautiful new bracelet of the other. It is a relaxed atmosphere typical of Siemiradzki's work. He had the ability to create intimate works that conveyed the message to people to love life, look after your loved ones, open yourselves up to the beauty of the world, and be just be in this world. #Art #Painting #Artwork #ArtHistory #HistoryofArt #OilPainting #OilonCanvas #PolishArt #Polish #PolishArtist #PolishPainter #Siemiradzki #Rome #Bracelet #NewBracelet #Statue #Cornucopia #Idyll #Classical #Happiness #Happy
