The beauty of youth. Pea Blossoms (1890) was painted by Sir Edward Poynter (1836-1919), a British Academic artist. It is a nostalgic painting, and a testament to the beauty we possess when we are young. Poynter painted this when he was 54, and reflected on the time when he was young and met his beautiful wife. But looking back, that period of youth seems to pass so quickly. And now he had three children that were enjoying their youth. The young lady is holding pea blossoms, the flowers of the sweet pea plant. It can symbolize sweet memories. But for Poynter it was also an ideal, gentle flower that fit his composition and helped to create a testament to the beauty of youth. #Art #Artwork #Painting #ArtHistory #HistoryofArt #BritishArt #BritishArtist #BritishPainter #AcademicArt #Poynter #EdwardPoynter #Beauty #Youth #YoungWoman #Young #Nostalgic #Flowers #WhiteFlowers #Peas #Blossoms #Blossom #Beautiful
