Lady in green. The King's Daughter (c. 1900) was painted by Eduard Veith (1858-1925). It's a different type of fashion and painting style than the idealizing paintings by Franz Xaver Winterhalter I posted earlier today. The painting is not as polished and her face and dress are not the focus here. Instead, the shoulders are the focal point, with their strong contrast to the green and gold dress, the dark background with roses, and even her face, which is in the shadow. It is not known who this princess is, and her face shows a combination of stoicism, boredness, and patience. Maybe she is thinking about something, or maybe she is just patiently waiting for Veith to complete the painting? It makes me wonder what of person she is... #Art #Painting #Artwork #ArtHistory #HistoryofArt #OilPainting #OilonCanvas #AcademicArt #AustrianArt #AustrianPainter #AustrianArtist #Portrait #Princess #GreenDress #Shoulders #Dress #Bored #Patience #Stoic #Stoicism #EduardVeith #Veith #Roses #Mysterious #Intriguing
