Do you miss winter? Albany in the Snow (1871) was created by the ‘painter of the American winter,’ Walter Launt Palmer (1854–1932). He painted it at age 17 in his hometown of Albany, NY. And if you are familiar with this city (now the state capital of New York), you may recognize the building in the background of this painting. It is the Court of Appeals building which stills stand today on Eagle Street. Palmer is able to capture the mood on this snowy evening. The street and the building are lit up by the gaslights, creating a bit of a romantic feeling on this cold, snowy, and windy evening. #Art #Painting #Artwork #ArtHistory #HistoryofArt #OilPainting #OilonCanvas #FineArts #ArtoftheDay #Winter #Landscape #Albany #NewYork #WalterPalmer #Palmer #AmericanArt #AmericanArtist #AmericanPainter #Cold #Windy #Snowy
