So these three things continue: faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love. Faith, Hope, and Love (1894) was painted by Mary Lizzie Macomber (1861-1916), and American artist inspired by the Pre-Raphaelite art style. This painting is inspired by the biblical text from 1 Corinthian 13:13, which I quoted at the beginning of this post. It is one of the famous lines from the new testament. The three women depicted here seem to be inspired by the three second-century daughters called Faith, Hope and Charity. They were martyred for their religion and later became saints. #Art #Painting #Artwork #ArtHistory #HistoryofArt #OilPainting #OilonCanvas #FineArts #ArtoftheDay #Macomber #AmericanArt #AmericanArts #AmericanArtist #AmericanPainter #FemaleArtist #FemalePainter #Faith #Hope #Love #Charity #Saints #Corinthians #PreRaphealite
