Did the artist get bored when painting the bird? Young Woman with a Parrot (1872) was painted by the relatively unknown Belgian artist Frédéric-Pierre Tschaggeny (1851-1921). It shows a simple composition, filled with beautiful colors. And whereas the artist seems to have put a lot of effort into the contemplative woman and her outfit, for some reason the parrot received much less attention. Is it because he was not that good in painting it, possibly because it would not pose as patiently as the woman? Did he just get tired of the painting in the end? Or is it a deliberate choice of the artist to put the full focus on the woman? The painting was sold in 2010 for a little bit less than $15,000. #Art #Painting #Artwork #ArtHistory #HistoryofArt #OilPainting #OilonCanvas #FineArts #ArtoftheDay #BelgianArt #BelgianArtist #BelgianPainter #Tschaggeny #Parrot #Tronie #Portrait #Colorful #Tired
