Have you heard of picturesque landscape paintings? Interior of Tintern Abbey, Monmouthshire (1794) is a watercolor painting by the 19-year old British artist J. M. W. Turner (1775-1851). It shows a ruined Cistercian monastery on the bank of the river Wye between England and Wales. It shows how the ruins are in the process of being reclaimed by nature. But we can still some of the beauty of the old monastery. This painting belongs to a class of paintings called Picturesque landscapes, which are landscape scenes characterized by roughness, variety, multiple textures, and overgrown features.
